Merlynston Invitation and Information Session PDF Print E-mail
All streets lead to Merlynston
image.jpg
The second phase of the NAGA Sustainability Street project was launched on May 16 in Merlynston. This phase will establish another 6 villages in the NAGA area over the next 18 months. The Merlynston Session was the first step in this process.

The mood for the Merlynston Information and Invitation Session was set by the guitar of Sam Niedra, the enthusiasm and passion were supplied by the people attending.

People came from as near as next door and as far away as Preston to find out more about Sustainability Street and how they can use the Sustainability Street Approach to change the way they relate to the environment and the community.

While Sam Starr kept the children happy, Dave (Vox Bandicoot) explained how the approach worked and how to bring it to a street near you. At Laura’s (Moreland Council) suggestion everyone identified their local area and were able to group together to talk about putting in an Expression of Interest, and once they started they were almost impossible to stop.

Keep an eye on upcoming Snapshots for news of new streets forming.

The DIY SSA Pioneered by Cities of Randwick, Waverly, Woolahara Rouse Hill, Winston Hills as well as The City of Whitehorse and Hobsons Bay in Melbourne is described in the Prospectus, see to the left, near the How Heading, to download.  It all starts with a Sustainability Street Train the Mentor course open to council officers and community alike.  Below, the historic, first ever TTM introduced by Skype --- thanks to the Clovelly Child Care Centre Sustainability St Village --- & Cities of Randwick, Waverly and Woollahara in East Sydney.
Below, the Clovelly Villagers at the other end of the "Cyber Skype Workshop".  Like wow baby!
