Yarra Valley Water Showerhead Exchange
It’s Raining Showerheads
Not Just Water - But Energy Too. This is a big opportunity to Reach Out To Your Neighbours!!
In both Victoria and NSW, hot water represents as much as 40% of household energy consumption. This is astounding! 40%! So, as well as reducing water consumption, a low flow rose also makes a powerful greenhouse gas reduction. What an amazing opportunity to make an excellent climate change reversal contribution.
Sustainability Street (in Partnership with Yarra Valley Water) are now able to participate in the “Yarra Valley Water showerhead exchange program.” This program aims to replace, energy and water inefficient showerheads, with new, more efficient showerheads.
Previously this was done through exchange centres; now each Sustainability Street is able to access this program in the most appropriate manner for their local area. This may include organising swap days, going door to door with existing members, incorporating an exchange into community days or whatever is appropriate for the local village. Each household may swap up to two showerheads (if they produce two old showerheads.)
Naturally there are a few conditions, but nothing too arduous.
You must be an existing Yarra Valley Water customer and produce your latest bill.
It is an exchange not a giveaway so you must bring and swap the old showerhead.
You will need to fill out a form (simple stuff, name, address, customer number, etc)
This is a cheap, simple and effective way to reduce your water use and decrease your greenhouse gas emission. Remember, it’s not just for Sustainability Streeters. Get your friends and family involved, and talk to them about why it is so important to do. Education is our best tool and the things we learn from Sustainability Street can be passed on to others. It’s not just about changing showerheads; it’s about changing the culture.
This is a big opportunity to Reach Out To Your Neighbours!!
As a part of the "Way To Sow" phase of the Sustainability Street Approach, this represents and excellent opportunity for Streeters and Villagers to do a bit of local doorknock and offer others in you local community this opportunity to save, water, save energy, save money, save the world!
